The bi-annual ACTT conference recently held in Ottawa entitled Responding to the Challenge: Concurrent Disorders and ACTT was a huge success with well over 300 ACTT professionals from around the province in attendance.
Congratulations to the Conference Planning Committee for all their hard work in making this such a well attended, educational and thought provoking conference!
As many of you know, I have presided over the OAA since its founding in 2002. During this time we have had several wonderfully enthusiastic OAA volunteer executives who have put in a lot of effort to develop the Association. At this point in time we have a newly re-vamped web site, and within the last year have organized several discipline specific educational workshops for over 200 ACTT staff. The OAA also has standing membership on the Ministry of Health Long Term Care sponsored Technical Advisory Panel (TAP) for ACT Teams. One of our biggest achievements is that through membership dues we have been able to provided seed money for three bi-annual ACTT conferences and we will now be taking on the task of organizing all future bi-annual conferences with the next one being held in Toronto in 2012.
Thus, it is with both a good measure of satisfaction and mixed emotions that at the recent Ottawa conference I decided to step down as President of the OAA and take on the role of Vice President of Finances and Development. It is however, with great pleasure that I announced our former Vice President of Development, Mark Coupal has taken over the reigns as your new OAA President. Congratulations Mark!
I wish to thank all of our members and the OAA Executives for their support over the last eight years and look forward to serving you in my new role.
Warm Regards,
Stuart Goldman
