History

As the number of Ontario ACT teams grew, a few ACT leaders discussed forming a province wide association. During that time an email communication group was set up and a membership survey was conducted at the Team Leaders and Team Psychiatrist meeting in Toronto in 2002. The results indicated that there was significant interest in the development of an Association for Assertive Community Treatment Teams in Ontario (OAA).

It is worth noting that at the conference the Technical Advisory Panel, ACTO and the MOHLTC also endorsed the idea of an association.

After that meeting a group of volunteers continued to work on developing a vision, mission and values statements which was presented to ACT teams to promote and develop a starting point for the Association. Our two most important mandates from members was to help fund (with seed money), promote and assist in coordinating our bi-annual Provincial ACT Conference and develop a website. To date we have been able to fulfill these mandates but more work is necessary.

We are always looking to find interested and committed people to join the Executive so please consider getting involved!
